Natural Gas

Some households in Taiwan are connected to natural gas mains, others are not and buy bottled gas instead. Installation costs will often be charged if connection is made to the mains. Contact the local gas company to learn about available options. Visit the Gas Association of the ROC (Chinese only) for more information.

Garbage Pickup

Different cities and counties have separate rules for garbage collection. Visit the website of the local government’s environmental protection department to find out more on garbage pickup routes and schedules, as well as related regulations (some contents may be in Chinese only).

Wi-Fi Information

As demand for mobile Internet access has grown in recent years, the Executive Yuan has set up the iTaiwan service comprising nearly 7,000 Wi-Fi hotspots in selected government offices and tourist attractions. After completing a simple registration process, users can enjoy free access to 1M-bandwidth Internet at any hotspot.

In addition to iTaiwan, Taipei City Government also provides the Taipei-Free service to all residents and visitors.
